Based on old-world ideals with a loyalty to our family of local and international food producers, we are a small, independently run business dedicated to the time-honored traditions of the culinary and agricultural world.
Established in 2003, we work directly with producers for more than 15 years in order to select cheeses at their peak. All along we have appreciated the seasonality of cheese production and have provided a constantly evolving array of goodies.
Our small staff of knowledgeable cheesemongers are experts in the field who love teaching through taste. We prioritize education in the art of properly maintaining cheese so that you can be assured of receiving the highest-quality products available.
In 2012, we opened our second location in the Gramercy area of lower Manhattan where we have grown into a neighborhood shop with not only world class cheeses, but a delicious prepared foods menu and thriving educational space – the Homestead. Stop by for lunch, or sign up for a class and experience our passion for education first-hand.
In 2016, our Brooklyn shop relocated just down Bedford Avenue, home to our flagship in-shop cafe and wine bar – complete with signature cheese, meat and dip boards, a wine list featuring small production winemakers from around the world, and craft beers and ciders.
