Who is Bedford Cheese Shop?

We aspire to be the proverbial bridge between makers of cheese, charcuterie and specialty foods and our customers and community, near and far. Think of an old school European cheese counter with a warm inviting farmhouse vibe in the heart of Manhattan.  One can also order catered cheese platters and boards to-go or a sandwich and more to be enjoyed in-house with a beverage  or boxed to go as you explore NYC. It is entirely up to you!

Do you offer indoor seating?

Why yes, we do! We have a cozy  indoor seating area - with tables of 2 or 4 available to customers on a first come first served basis.

How do I order a lunch or breakfast sandwich?

You can order our signature sandwiches made fresh every day at our sandwich counter, either as is or pressed and toasty! Additionally these items are available for delivery on DoorDash.

What is an In-House Cheese Flight?

In-House Cheese Flights are an assortment of either three or five cheeses (monger’s choice) served on a beautiful wooden board along with jam, honey and selective accoutrements such as cornichons, olives, and fresh or dried fruit.  If you desire a charcuterie element, for an additional charge we will include soppressata or prosciutto, In-House Cheese Flights are prepared only to be enjoyed in our Shop.

How do I order an In-House Cheese Flight?

Directly from a Cheesemonger at the Cheese Counter.  While waiting for your flight to be assembled, you review our grab-in-go for your beverage options and more. Then sit back and relax as  your Flight will be brought to you table-side.   

What is a Cheese Board To-Go?

A Cheese Boards To-Go are an assortment of three or five cheeses (monger’s choice) packed in a beautiful wooden board along with jam, honey and selective accoutrements such as cornichons, olives, and fresh or dried fruit that you can take to-go!  If you desire a charcuterie element, for an additional charge we will include soppressata or prosciutto. There is also the option to add charcuterie (either soppressata or prosciutto) for an additional up charge.

PRODUCTS & NUTRITION

How long will my charcuterie products last? 

We recommend enjoying your sliced products within 1-3 days and storing them in your refrigerator. Allow charcuterie to get to room temperature for optimal flavor profile... If you are purchasing a pre-packed product, please follow the directions printed on the label.

How long will my cheeses last? 

This depends on the age and style of cheese. Hard, aged cheeses will last up to several weeks in your fridge if properly stored in either cheese paper, plastic wrap, or a Ziploc bag. Softer cheeses have a shorter shelf life, usually no more than a week. While there is no cut and dry answer to this question, we encourage our customers to follow their eyes and nose to determine if their cheese is still fresh: blue or white mold (that is not usually present on the cheese) can be cut off to expose a fresh face on the piece of cheese; if your cheese smells of ammonia, you can assume it has reached the end of its time! 

Are your cheeses pasteurized?

We carry a wide range of raw and pasteurized cheeses. In the United States, raw milk cheeses must be aged a minimum of 60 days; therefore, all cheeses younger than 60 days will be pasteurized in our shop. Additionally, all of our cheeses are explicitly labeled as “raw” or “pasteurized” in the cheese case and on the scale label. 

Can you accommodate dietary restrictions? 

We will always do our best to accommodate any restrictions you may have, however we are not an allergen free environment. Specifically your products may come in contact with: nuts, gluten, seeds, dairy, eggs, fish, etc. If you are ordering in store, always alert one of our team members about any allergies or dietary restrictions. If you are ordering online, you must note any restrictions/alerts in the notes sections of your order. We will do our best to accommodate your requests but there is always a risk of cross contamination within our shop and we cannot completely eliminate this risk. Should you still decide to continue with your order you will be consuming at your own risk.

Do you cater for large events? 

Of course we do! We love, love, love catering large events. Please check out our catering page or follow us on social media to see just what we can do.

How do I order catering? 

You can place your order online (highly recommended), over the phone by calling 718-395-3080, or in our Shop with one of our Team members. 

How many days in advance should I order?

Catering orders require 48 hour advance ordering. You can call the shop at 718-395-3080 or place your order online by following this link:catering. If you are looking to place an order under the 48 hour advance notice there will be an additional $25 rush fee per item. 

Can I change my order?

Any changes to your order MUST be made 48 hours prior to your order date. Additions to your order are easier to accommodate. Any cancellations or removal of items falls into our cancellations policies, see below. 

Can I move my order?

If you are contacting us to move your order to a different date outside of the 48 hours prior window, we will do our best to accommodate. However, we reserve the right to/or not to accommodate such requests on a case by case basis. 

Can I cancel my order? 

If you are canceling before the 48 hour window there will be no cancellation fee applied.
If you are canceling less than 48 hours prior there will be a 25% cancellation fee.
If you are canceling 24 hours prior there will be a 50% cancellation fee.
If you are canceling the day of your order you are responsible for the entire payment in full.

Do you deliver?

For delivery, we use a third-party courier service that charges a flat rate of $40 for Manhattan and $60 for Brooklyn. They offer only two delivery windows, 10am - 1pm and 2pm - 5pm, we are unable to provide a specific delivery time within their offered time frame.  Please forward the following information below and please note there must be someone available to receive the delivery at that address or the items will be returned to our shop.

Can I pick up my order?

If you prefer to pick up your order, we can have it ready for you between the hours of 10am - 6:30pm!  Additionally, if you would like to coordinate delivery on your end via Uber, we are happy to have you organize that with us. Our address is  67 Irving Place New York, NY, 10003. Most customers can easily carry 2 large platters.

Can I receive my platters and serve them the following day? 

We strongly recommend consuming our platters the day you receive them to maintain optimum freshness. However, should you decide to store your platters in a fridge overnight, that is entirely up to you! 

Do I need to do anything with my platter before serving? 

We recommend taking your cheese/charcuterie platters out 30-45 minutes prior to consuming so that they can come to temp and you can experience the full flavor of the cheeses and charcuterie.  

Can I bring in my own wooden platters and boards? 

Absolutely! We will see if we can build on your platters and create a custom price for you. An order of this type needs to be discussed two weeks in advance so we can ensure your items can actually be used, etc…
