 Who is Bedford Cheese Shop?

We aspire to be the proverbial bridge between makers of cheese, charcuterie and specialty foods and our customers and community, near and far. Think of an old school European cheese counter with a warm inviting farmhouse vibe in the heart of Manhattan.  One can also order catered cheese platters and boards to-go or a sandwich and more to be enjoyed in-house with a beverage or boxed to-go as  you explore NYC. It is entirely up to you!

Is there indoor seating?

We have a cozy indoor seating area - with tables for 2 or 4 people available to customers on a first come, first served, basis.

How do I order BCS lunch or breakfast items?

Our signature sandwiches, made fresh every morning, may be ordered at our sandwich counter, either as is or pressed and toasty! We also have delicious breakfast burritos and other savory options, seasonal soups, salads, deviled eggs, grab-n-go lunch items, just to name a few; plus chips, pretzels, sweets and more…. Many of these items are also available for delivery on DoorDash.

In-House Cheese Flight looks exciting, can you tell me more?

Our gorgeous and delicious In-House Cheese Flights may be ordered at our cheese counter. This cheese shop “winner” is an  assortment of three or five cheeses (cheese types are monger’s choice) beautifully served on a wooden board along with jam, honey and selective accoutrements such as cornichons, olives, and fresh or dried fruit.  If you desire a charcuterie element, for an additional charge, we will include soppressata or prosciutto. In-House Cheese Flights are prepared to order and only to be enjoyed in our Shop.


A Cheese Board To-Go sounds perfect for my afternoon, can you tell me more?

A Cheese Board To-Go can be ordered online, over the phone,718-395-3080, or in the shop.  It is an assortment of three or five cheeses (cheeses are monger’s choice) beautifully arranged in an enclosed beautiful wooden box with a sliding plexiglass top along with jam, honey and a selection of accoutrements such as cornichons, olives, and fresh or dried fruit that you can take to-go!  If you desire a charcuterie element, for an additional charge, we will include savory soppressata or prosciutto. These are perfect for a picnic, party, or just because. 

PRODUCT INFO. & CARE

I love charcuterie, can you tell me more about this type of cured meat? 

We recommend enjoying your in-shop sliced charcuterie within 1-3 days of purchase. Please store items wrapped in your refrigerator. For optimal flavor profile, allow your charcuterie to get to room temperature (about 30 minutes out of the refrigerator) before enjoying.

Can you tell me how to best store my cheese?

If you manage not to eat everything the minute you get home…. . Please tightly wrap your cheese every time after opening, and properly store in either cheese paper, plastic wrap, or a Ziploc bag. Hard, aged cheeses will last up to several weeks in your fridge while softer cheeses will last up to a week in your fridge. Most importantly though, we encourage our customers to follow their eyes and nose to determine if their cheese is still fresh: blue or white mold (that is not usually present on the cheese) can be cut off to expose a fresh faced piece; if your cheese smells strongly of ammonia, or has black or red mold, you can assume it has reached the end of the road! 

My friend is pregnant, do you carry pasteurized cheeses?

We sure do! Please ask one of our cheesemongers for guidance. Additionally, all of our cheeses are labeled as “raw” or “pasteurized” in the cheese case and on will be noted on your label.  

Can you accommodate dietary restrictions? 

We will always do our best to accommodate our customers' requests, when possible, however, we cannot guarantee that cross contamination will NOT occur and we are NOT an allergen, gluten, nut, seed, dairy, egg, fish, meat, etc free environment.

CATERING

I’m having an event and we would love BCS to cater, is this possible ?? 

We LOVE to provide catering for events, parties, or just because! Please check out our catering page or follow us on social media to see our beautiful, delicious and satisfying cheese platters! You can place orders online, over the phone 718-395-3080, or in our Shop with one of our Team members. Please note, to avoid a rush fee of $25 per item, place orders 48 hours in advance. However, please note, we do not offer event waitstaff support. 


May I change what I have ordered?

Any changes to your order MUST be made by 10 AM, 2 days prior to your order fulfillment date. Any cancellations or removal of items falls into our cancellations policies, see below. 

May I move my order to another day?

If you are contacting us to move your order to a different date, by 10 AM, 2 days prior to your fulfillment date; we will do our best to accommodate. However, we reserve the right to/or not to accommodate such requests on a case by case basis. 

I have to cancel my order because (fit your reason in this blank)! Is that possible? 

Gift Basket & Platter Cancellation Policy (does not apply to Cheese Boards To-Go)

Cancellations to catering orders must be made no later than 10:00 AM EST two days prior to the pick-up, or delivery, date for a full refund of your order total. 

  • eg.: Your order is for anytime Thursday Jan. 4th; for a full refund you must cancel before, or by, 10 AM Tuesday Jan. 2nd. 

Cancellations made by 10:00 AM EST later than 2 days prior but by 10:00 AM EST one day prior to the pick-up, or delivery, date will receive a partial refund or 50% of your order total. 

  • eg.: Your order is for anytime Thursday Jan. 4th; for a 50% refund, you will have canceled after 10:01 AM Tuesday Jan. 2nd and by 10 AM January 3rd.  

Any cancellations made after 10:00 AM EST the day prior (including same day cancellations) to your order date, will not be refunded. 

  • eg: Your order is for anytime Thursday Jan. 4th; if you cancel anytime after 10 AM January 3rd, you are not eligible for a refund.

Is BCS able to deliver orders? 

 We deliver in Manhattan, Brooklyn, & Queens 7 days a week via a third-party courier. All delivery orders need to be in 48 hours prior in order to guarantee delivery.

For orders under $350 

  • Manhattan $45 
  • Brooklyn & Queens $65

For orders over $350 

  • Manhattan 12% of the order total
  • Brooklyn & Queens 12% of the order total +$20 borough fee

Am I able to pick-up my order?

The short and happy answer is, YES you are! Your order  can be ready for pickup between the hours of 10 AM - 6:30 PM, 7 days a week!  Additionally, if you would like to coordinate delivery on your end via Uber, we are happy to have you organize that with us. What is an Admin Fee?

Each Catering Order over 11+ items is subject to a 15% Administrative Fee. This Fee is intended to offset the costs associated with administrative and managerial oversight, documentation, and preparation of the catering order. It is not, nor is it intended to be, a gratuity. All of our team are competitively compensated but gratuity, should you choose to add it, is always appreciated.

 

Can I receive my platters and serve them the following day? 

We strongly recommend consuming our platters the day you receive them for optimum quality and flavor profile. However, should you decide to store your platters in a fridge overnight, that is entirely up to you! 

What is the best way to serve my BCS platter? 

We recommend taking your cheese/charcuterie platters out of the refrigerator 30 to 45 minutes prior to consuming so that they can come to room temperature for optimum flavor profiles.

May I bring my own platters and boards and have BCS use them for my catering? 

Give us a call, we would love to discuss the possibilities.Please note, there will be a custom “up-charge” for a more personalized platter.
